Love for God

For you know I love you, Saviour,
know I love you, mighty Lord;
love you more than any other
thing I ever have adored:
this bears witness,
this bears witness
to your work upon my soul.

From where came these new desires?
What gives life to heart and mind?
Things I once despised, I long for, –
and delighted when I find.
Jesus, Jesus,
Jesus, Jesus,
this is all what you have done.

Glory is the goal I aim for,
holy heaven, happy home;
mighty Holy Spirit made me
child of God, and bids me come;
and I want to,
and I want to
serve and worship God above.

This song is a loose translation of a Welsh hymn,
“’Rwy’n dy garu, Ti a’i gwyddost” by William Williams, Pantycelyn

Fashioning my heart

Breathe, Holy Spirit, blow,
shake out the fragrance fine,
fruit of your fashioning my heart
for fellowship divine.

Jesus takes great delight
in feasting with my soul,
on him I feed, and feast, and find
refreshment, grace through all.

Feelings of barrenness,
failure, fatigue and fear:
in all affliction, Comforter
come, bringing strength and cheer.

Keep me from foolish pride –
thinking I can be strong
apart from all that you supply, –
God’s grace revives my song.

Cleanse me from hateful sin,
careful to heed, obey.
Fill me with faith; and fellowship, –
walk with me all the way.
Tune: SM

on Ephesians 1:3-14

Plan superb God is fulfilling:
universal, certain scheme:
bringing all his richest blessings,
sending Jesus to redeem,
rescuing for holiness,
from the bonds of wickedness.

He will soon rule over all things,
everything and everyone,
but believers are adopted,
willing service has begun,
sonship that cannot be earned,
futile rebel actions spurned.

So give heed to revelation
of this richest gospel grace;
as we wait for full redemption,
taste support and love’s embrace;
sealed – his Spirit lives within,
moulding us to follow him.

Knowing now where we are heading,
joyfully, we press ahead,
comforted in times of trial,
chastened, taught, and onward led;
serve our gracious God with awe,
praise our Saviour evermore.
